The Beautiful City of Prague

The last weekend in March I had the chance to visit the beautiful city of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Prague was by far my favorite city that I visited. It was very different and mesmerizing ( I know I’ve probably overused that word). It was the most beautiful city I’ve ever seen. I highly highly recommend spending a few days in Prague if you get the chance. I heard a lot of good things about Prague so naturally, I had some expectations before coming but I didn’t expect them to be over exceeded so quickly! The moment I entered the main square, the Old Town Square, I knew Prague was special. The best way to describe it is that it felt like I was in a kingdom from a storybook fairytale— I mean there was a castle and everything.

Like I said, first place I went to was the Old Town Square. I stayed in an airbnb that was a 10 minute walk from the square which was perfect and honestly it wasn’t too expensive because of the economy of Prague, the city is pretty affordable for tourists. The local currency was the Czech Koruna but some places also took Euros. The Old Town Square was so lively! There were musicians, men making bubbles, people in giant panda costumes and so much more.

Traditional Goulash

I walked around the square for a bit and then went to see the famous astronomical clock tower (pictured above). It was the most beautiful clock tower I had ever seen. I will say when the clock struck the hour, it was a bit anti-climatic, though. The bells were quiet and not much happened. Still it was beautiful. We walked into one of the many restaurants surrounding the square and I was ready to try any traditional Czech food. I got to have traditional goulash, pictured to the left. Goulash basically was a beef stew that had pieces of beef in it as well. On the side, there were traditional bread dumplings which were absolutely delicious with the gravy part of the goulash. It didn’t have a lot of flavor but had just the right amount. The entire restaurant smelled amazing so I imagine you can’t go wrong with Czech food.

After refueling, we walked over to the very famous Charles bridge. One of my favorite sites actually. Before crossing we went up the old tower, which you have to buy a ticket for. The entrance to the tower is actually very hidden so before you cross from Praha 1 (that’s what they call the neighborhood) into Praha 2, make sure you look for this entrance pictured to the right. When I got up there, the view was absolutely stunning. I swear I could’ve stayed up there for hours. We were really luckily that the weather was absolutely amazing and the sun was shining so bright. Check out the view below omg.

Me chilling at the best Starbucks in the world

We went back down and crossed the bridge after to make our way to Prague Castle. On our way we stumbled upon a hidden gem, the best Starbucks in the world. We saw this like balcony that went over the hill and decided to check it out. As we got closer the view got better AND WE SAW IT WAS A STARBUCKS. I was shook that this Starbucks was at such a prime location. Check out the view below.

I have never enjoyed a Starbucks experience so much. Before you make your way up to Prague Castle, you have to stop by this Starbucks.

Moving on, once you make your way up to Prague Castle, you’ll see some beautiful buildings that aren’t like the rest I’ve seen around Europe. From there, it’s like a 15 minute walk to the John Lennon Wall which is a beautiful wall filled with amazing street art that was located in a small and secluded square across from the French Embassy. The wall received its first such decoration following the 1980 assassination of John Lennon when an unknown artist painted a single image of the singer-songwriter and some lyrics. Check it out below. If you still have time after all these sites, make your way to the Petrin Tower. The hike up is long and requires work, but the park is so peaceful and once you make it up there, it is worth it. If you’re looking for some of the modern parts of Prague, check out the Dancing House or Wenceslas Square! Lastly, pictured above and below is one of my new favorite desserts- the Trdelnik! It is a chimney cake that is sprinkled with sugar on the outside and is just delicious. I crave one everyday. If anyone wants to go back to Prague for the summer, let me know cause we out.

Like I said, Prague was my favorite trip. I highly recommend it! It’s hard to be back in NY now and to not be traveling as much as I was, but this does give me a chance to reflect on this time well. One last catch up is for the most relaxing place, Nice! Afterwards, I have a recap on my time abroad coming and then some Ramadan tips! Speaking of, Ramadan Mubarak to all of my Muslim readers! I hope this month brings you prosperity. I appreciate everyone who reads my stuff and if you share, I would really appreciate that as well! If you haven’t already, subscribe below!
